A FLAT FEE FAMILY LAW FIRM

One of the most significant advantages of a flat fee structure is cost certainty. With hourly billing, clients never know how much their final bill will be, as it depends on the amount of time the attorney spends on their case. This can lead to surprise expenses and financial strain, which in turn can cause additional stress and anxiety during an already difficult time. A flat fee structure can provide clients with the peace of mind that they will know from the beginning of their case precisely how much their legal services will cost.

Another advantage of flat fees is that they incentivize efficiency. With hourly billing, attorneys are rewarded for taking longer to complete tasks or for performing more work, regardless of its necessity. With a flat fee payment structure, attorneys are typically motivated to provide expedient, tailored legal solutions that can save clients money in legal fees.

DIVORCE
In Ohio, divorce is a legal process through which a marriage is dissolved and comes to an end. A divorce proceeding involves dividing property and assets, establishing or modifying spousal support, and making arrangements for any minor children involved, including child custody, parenting time, and child support.

Ohio courts operate under the principle of equitable distribution, which means that property division in a divorce aims to achieve a fair and reasonable division of assets and liabilities. Along with property division, spousal and child support are also determined by the court, taking into account the respective needs and ability to pay of both parties.

Divorce can be one of the most challenging experiences that a person can go through, and it's important to seek out the right resources for guidance and assistance. Child Custody, parenting time, child support, property division, spousal support, and more, must be addressed as part of any divorce case. Your attorney must appear in court or in front of a magistrate at various stages of this process.

Wise Law knows that life can be stressful, messy, and chaotic. We believe that our mark on the color of the world begins and ends with out impact in our own homes. We are here to listen to the needs of every client. Reach out today and speak with an attorney about how Wise Law can best help you.

DISSOLUTION
In Ohio, dissolution is a legal process for ending a marriage through mutual agreement of both parties. It is typically a more straightforward and less adversarial option than traditional divorce litigation and can often help spouses to avoid a time-consuming and costly court battle.

A dissolution proceeding involves both spouses agreeing on all aspects of the divorce, including property division, spousal support, child custody and parenting time, and child support. Once an agreement is reached, the parties file a joint petition for dissolution in the court, and the court will schedule a final hearing to approve the agreement.

Dissolution can be a favorable option for couples seeking a more efficient and collaborative approach to ending their marriage. By working together to negotiate the terms of their divorce agreement, couples can maintain greater control over the outcome of their case and often save time and money in the process.

CHILD SUPPORT
Child custody is a legal term used to describe the legal and physical rights and responsibilities that parents have with respect to their minor children. Ohio courts make child custody determinations based on what they consider to be in the best interests of the child, taking into account factors such as the child’s relationship with each parent, the parents' living arrangements and schedules, and the child's medical, educational, and emotional needs.

Parenting time, which is sometimes referred to as visitation, is another important aspect of child custody. Ohio law recognizes that children have the right to have frequent and continuing contact with both parents, and courts will often order a parenting time schedule that allows for this type of contact. Again, parenting time schedules are designed with the best interests of the child in mind, and they may be modified by the court if circumstances change.

Ohio case law has established that, in general, parents have a constitutional right to raise and care for their children. However, this right is not absolute and is subject to modification by the courts in certain circumstances. For example, if one parent has a history of substance abuse or domestic violence, the court may order supervised visitation or may limit the amount of parenting time that parent has.

We want to stress that every family and child custody case is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to parenting time or child custody. We encourage families in need of assistance to seek out support and Wise Law can help you navigate even the most challenging child custody cases successfully.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Domestic violence can take many forms and cause profound damage to those who experience it.

Under Ohio law, domestic violence typically involves abuse or threats of abuse against a family or household member. Abuse is defined broadly to include physical harm, emotional abuse, sexual misconduct, and other forms of harm that a reasonable person would find detrimental to the welfare and safety of a household member.

Civil orders of protection, also known as restraining orders, can be issued to prevent domestic violence from occurring and provide victims with legal recourse and protection.

A civil restraining order can provide a victim with much-needed relief, including prohibiting the abuser from contacting the victim or coming within a certain distance of the victim. A domestic violence restraining order can also order the abuser to vacate a shared home or provide temporary custody or protection for any animals in the home.

If you or a loved one has experienced domestic violence, we urge you to seek legal assistance and the support of domestic violence resources in your community. It is important to know that help is available, and Wise Law is here to help protect victims of domestic violence.
